ITINERARY:  ( provisional, not written in stone)

DAY 1: 14 Dec/ 11 Jan – This is a travelling day only. We will depart the Day Trippers depot in Maitland at 15h00 and transfer to the start in Robertson ( for riders flying in from upcountry, we will do an airport collection at approx 14h30)

DAY 2: 15 Dec/ 12 Jan – Today we cycle most of Stage 2 , Robertson to Robertson. Though it’s never wise to get blasé about any Epic ride, this is a fantastic stage, filled with lots of fun, technical, but fast flowing riding. It will be the perfect warm-up for your legs, before tackling what is sure to become the infamous Stage 3... DISTANCE: Approx 100km/ 1500m

Day 3: 16 Dec/ 13 Jan – The Mother of all stages, this day from Robertson to Caledon is 147 km - the longest ever Epic stage, with 2900m of climbing including the rocky road, the mast climb , the toll house climb and the never-ending UFO climb. We will give you a good preview, without revealing all the surprises...

DAY 4: 17 Dec/ 14 Jan – Today is a combination of stage 4 ( Caledon to Caledon) and Stage 5 ( Caledon to Elgin). We will cover the lead up to and the main attraction of stage 5, Charlie’s heaven - a demanding 10km slog with incredible views to reward your efforts and a memorable descent. We then continue on towards Elgin, covering sections of Stage 6, before loading up and transferring to our overnight in Grabouw. DISTANCE: Approx 100 – 120 km/ approx 2000m

Day 5: 18 Dec/ 15 Jan – We end off with a goodly portion of Stage 6, including the Mighty Groenlandberg, this time the long haul up from Nuweberg side with a hairy descent and then a second assault, which leads us towards Paul Cluver & Oak Valley. DISTANCE: Approx 65 – 85km/ 1500 – 2000m , but this will depend on our progress on the day, as we aim to be done riding by 15h00 at the latest, before showering & heading back to the city, via the airport. If flying out, do not book your flight before 19h00 to be safe.

Hi Steven,

I would just like to express my thanks to you and Di for the most professional way that our training ride was organized, everything was great form A to Z.

It was an amazing experience to train with professionals as yourselves, after the 4 days of training I can no longer class myself as a novice and cannot use ignorance as an excuse.

I would like to thank you and Di for all your assistance during the training, it was really an eye opener.

I truly envy your professionalism; it is no wonder that you and Di are so successful
I hope that we meet again during the Epic

Kind Regards

Alwyn Gey Van Pittius

Di and Steve,

Just a short note to you guys to say thanks for the organisation of the above training camp. This was a truly valuable exercise for both Andre and I , and we will certainly be spreading the word, to fellow Epic riders and our friends to make use of your wonderful company.

“Hi Di,

Thanks again to all for the fantastic trip with all the tips, help and encouragement. It was a hugely steep learning curve and was probably the most important thing we could've done to help us finish the Epic other than buy our bikes. “

Kevin Skillikorn

“Hi Steve, Di , Kevin and Ricky,

Thank you for showing Susan and myself what mountain biking and the EPIC is about. This was truly a learning experience(reality check). “
