CAPE EPIC CYCLE TOURS 2007

8-DAY EPIC TOUR - Knysna to Lourensford

DATES: 20 – 28 July 2007 & 19 – 27 October 2007

This mountain bike tour follows the official 2007 Absa Cape Epic route. The route will include most of the unique private sections but not all.

There will be full back-up providing support along the route – snacks, water, lunch, mechanic, baggage transfer, sag wagon (to allow tired legs to take a ride at any point). You can ride as much or as little each day as you feel up to.

We will stay in comfortable accommodations in the same stage locations used by the Cape Epic on the 2007 Untamed and magical bike ride.

Day 1, Friday
Check in to our accommodation in Knysna after 2pm (lifts offered from CT @ R250 pp or meet us there). 19h00 – depart accommodation for pre-ride briefing and dinner.

Day 2, Saturday – Knysna to Uniondale
Warm up ride to the official start line and begin our ride. The route climbs up Simola Hill and then through the forest on forest tracks before joining the pass and a 12km climb to Avontuur b before the final jeep track over the Wapad to Uniondale.

Day 3, Sunday - Uniondale to Oudtshoorn
Today’s ride follows the dirt divisional roads around the inselberg that is Kammanassie.The route through the game reserve is not possible and we take a gravel alternative into Oudtshoorn.

Day 4, Monday - Oudtshoorn to Ladismith
The ride to Red Rocks is fast and gentle before we hit the “wall” which is well worth doing as it offers a great descent on the other side towards Calitzdorp. Huisrivier Pass is a doddle and the farm roads and back roads into Ladismith is easy going…

Day 5, Tuesday - Ladismith - Barrydale

Day 6, Wednesday – Barrydale to Montague
Day 7, Thursday – Montague to Villiersdorp
Day 8, Friday – Villiersdorp to Kleinmond
Day 9, Saturday – Kleinmond to Lourensford

Tour ends at Lourensford.  Have someone pick you up here OR Lifts offered to Day Trippers depot in Maitland.

COST: R8,800.00
SINGLE SUPPLEMENT: R1,950.00 pp (subject to availability)

1. Accommodation B&B for 8 nights (Fri – Fri, tour finishes on Sat evening in Cape Town)

EXCLUDES:

1. Transport from CT – Knysna on Friday (lifts offered from Day Trippers depot in Maitland at R250 pp)
2. All drinks & alcoholic beverages, except breakfast drinks & refreshments while cycling
3. All items of a personal nature, e.g. laundry, tel calls, etc
4. Mountain bikes available for rental or bring your own)
